ABOUT
“Sometimes life leads you to where you need to go.”
We have all heard the quotes. And they all sound similar and somewhat clichéd. But this is actually true for me and watercolor.
My first watercolor painting I believe is still hanging in my parents' old home, in the same place it was kept when I was growing up. I did it when I was in 7th grade. My parents were so proud of it, they had a family friend frame it, and hung it up in the dining room.
Yet, however successful I was (or my family thought I was) with the medium, I never touched watercolor paint again. And although I painted more with oil paints in high school, and dabbled in a painting class or two in college, I never studied— I mean seriously studied— art at a university level. Instead, my studies led me to a career in advertising, and then that career led me to the world of teaching.
But it was life that led me to watercolor.
Many, many, years later, life led me to pick up a brush and try something new— or old, if you consider that 7th-grade student painting. And I'm happy it's the older, wiser me that is getting to experience the hobby that the 11-year-old me foolishly never did. Because, although it is a challenging medium, I truly, truly love it.
Thank you for visiting my pages. I hope my pieces can inspire you to let life take you to where you are supposed to be.
